Red Scarf Project Complete

I've had a real problem lately with not being a monogamous crafter/hobbyist.  I have way too many projects going and really I enjoy each and every one of them and hate for any of them to feel left out.  A couple of knitting projects, books to be read, a quilting project, scrapbooking, card making, and the list goes on.  If I would just narrow down the scope of what I enjoy doing it would probably make for a more productive me.  But where's the fun in that???  ;)
Today I finished a scarf for the Red Scarf Project, which uses them in Valentine's Day care packages for college-bound foster youth.  I have to say this pattern was one of the easiest I've ever done and I really like the stitch it produces.  Great tv watching knitting!
Yarn: Paton's SWS yarn in Natural Crimson - I had heard a lot about how this yarn splits while knitting.  It does split a LOT more than most yarns I've used, but it wasn't insurmountable.
And while taking the pictures of the scarf my cat Meeko jumped up on the nearby chair to figure out what was going on.  Since he hasn't gotten much air time on the blog I figured I'd post this photo, for which I'm sure he will be eternally grateful.

The Cat in the Lap

When I get home from work I love to take a little time to sit and knit and make the mental transition from work to home. Usually when I do this the cat sits nearby and the dog sits at my feet.

But this time the cat wanted to curl up on my lap while I was knitting. For most cat owners this probably is no big deal, but Meeko is now 13 years old and actually quite a curmudgeon. He will allow himself to be pet as long as it's on his schedule only. So to have him voluntarily jump into my lap was quite a surprise!

I'm still working on the homeless scarf in this picture and will probably have it and one other thing completed this weekend. The girls at work are starting to learn to knit socks and that has me wanting to pull mine out again! :)

Christmas Tree Cat

I just had to get a picture of Meeko under the tree. You see, he loves it and spends most of his time under it. I was fortunate that when I decided to take a picture he was sleeping in the front of the tree where he was very visible.

Right now he's pretty irritated at us as we have rocked his kitty world by putting presents under the tree. He's lost his favorite sleeping spot to a bunch of boxes and he's taking it pretty hard.

But he doesn't just enjoy sleeping under the tree...he also finds chewing on the tree highly amusing. And the vision of a certain cat in the movie Christmas Vacation always comes to mind. So we don't leave the tree lights on when we're not around - just in case you know.
